I have a couple of experiments going. One of them is working with the Saucon Fingering on a large needle. Oh my, does it ever feel nice. It's sock weight yarn but I'm knitting it on a 4.5mm/US7 needle.
It's going to be a drapey summer top which will need to be worn over a camisole. It will be cool to wear in the hot weather. Have you tried any of the light weight sweaters with sock weight yarn on larger needles?

My Perth Cardi is made this way--light and airy with fingering weight. Maybe I should try one with three-quarter length sleeves in your cotton blend.
ReplyDeletePlease I am trying to talk with someone about the little top down cardigan called Tasia's #607. Because I didn't have the correct size DPNs I decided to knit the sleeves flat. When I finished I noticed that the sleeves were very narrow to the body of the sweater. I thought it might be a good idea to add a stitch or two either side of beginning of sleeve to allow for sewing up. I DO sew up using mattress stitch, even so the sleeve is narrow in comparison to the body. A real disappointment. Regards

When I knit another one I will have to add a stitch or two either side at the beginning of the sleeves to allow for seam. That is if I knit the sleeves flat.

I'm knitting my cardigan - using two laceweight singles - from the top down on 4.5mm circ so I have a light airy sweater. The yarn is much warmer since I spun it from teased wool right off the fleece. It's so soft & snuggly . . . I'm hoping it's light weight will keep it from stretching all out of shape like those old factory made scratchy angora sweaters we all used to wear in the early 60s. Oooops, did I make an age booboo here?? Hahaha
